Mary Lou (Bohrnstedt) Byom, 86, died on January 12, 2018, surrounded by family at the Grandview Nursing Home in Blair, WI. She was born on April 28, 1931, in Winona, MN to Agnes (Brecht) and Russell Bohrnstedt of Arcadia. She attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1949. She attended UW-Stout, graduating in 1953, and majoring in Home Economics education. She taught in Trempealeau, Fort Atkinson, Middleton, Baldwin and Arcadia, while her husband was attending college. Mary Lou enjoyed teaching, traveling, sewing, golfing, bridge and attending her children and grandchildren's school activities. She also was a Cub Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, Holy Family PCCW and 7Arcadia Historical Society.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wendell Byom, Arcadia. Mary Lou and Wendell were married on August 1, 1953, at OLPH church. They have 6 children who all survive; Lori (Pat) Fox, Hartland, WI; Debbie Kluttz, Castlewood, VA; Jon (Sue) Byom, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Tom (Shawn), Urbandale, IA; Jeff (Susan), Winona, MN; Becky (Todd) Hayes, Verona, WI; 11 grandchildren, Kari, Andy, Michael Fox (Lori), Katie, Jared Kluttz (Debbie), Allison, Sarah Byom (Jon), Lexie, Jared Byom (Tom), Morgan, Emmy Hayes (Becky); 3 step-grandchildren, Sean, Steve(Jenna) and Ben Krage (Jeff); 2 step great grandchildren; Camilla, Sabina Krage (Jeff); brothers, David Bohrnstedt of Appleton, WI, George (Jennifer) Bohrnstedt of Indian Wells, CA; and sister-in-law Evelyn Byom of La Crosse, WI.

Preceding Mary Lou in death were sisters-in-law Fernanda (Winfred) Byom, Esther (Slaby) Bohrnstedt, Carol (Byom) Brown, Shirley (Byom) Patridge; and brothers-in-law, Leroy Brown, Winfred Byom, Ronald Byom and Pat Patridge.

Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Noon at Holy Family Parish with Father Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at church, with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Arcadia Public Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MS Foundation.
