Jesse G. Comero, 91, of Mondovi and formerly of Eau Claire died on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Jesse was born on March 12, 1924, in the Township of Montana, Buffalo Co. Wisconsin to Willie and Emma (Flury) Comero. Jesse married LaVonne Maier on July 7, 1953, at the Parsonage of the Montana United Methodist Church in Waumandee, WI.
Jesse graduated from Arcadia High School in 1943. He farmed in the Township of Montana, then he and LaVonne moved to Eau Claire where he worked at Russell Dairy, Schwan's Dairy, Consumer's Co-op, and was a custodian for the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. After he retired he delivered papers for Eau Claire Leader Telegram and worked at Maple Manor Motel. He attended Chapel Heights Methodist Church in Eau Claire. Jesse was a wonderful cook, husband, father and grandfather. He loved polka dancing, going on Mystery Bus Tours with his wife LaVonne. He was a 4-H Leader for the Montana Pioneers. In high school Jesse won 2nd place in the 100-yard dash in the State High School Track Meet. Jesse was a member of the Eau Claire Horseshoe Club, Chapel Heights Church Dart ball team in Eau Claire and the St. Joseph's Church Dart ball team in Rock Falls. Jesse and LaVonne ran the concession stand for 30 years at the Eau Claire Horseshoe Club, retiring in 2012.
Jesse is survived by his wife: LaVonne Comero of Mondovi, one son: Terry (Joelle) Comero of Mondovi, three daughters: Susan (David) Spalding of North Bend, Oregon, Jean (Mike) Grossell of Buffalo City, Janet (Dan) Lordson of Eau Claire; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Norman, Clayton, Jerome, 3 sisters: Ida Haigh, Nora Comero, and Adeline Plank.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Chapel Heights Methodist Church in Eau Claire with Rev. Cheri Miskiman officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairmont Ave. in Eau Claire and from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in the United Methodist Cemetery in the Township of Montana (Waumandee), WI.
