Ralph M. Shumway, 69, of Arcadia died on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Gundersen Tri County Hospital and Clinic in Whitehall, WI. Ralph was born on March 18, 1943, in Thief River Falls, MN, to Raymond L. and Laura (Schaack) Shumway. He married Theresa Knusalla on March 22, 1973, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Arcadia. Ralph served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard, was a member of the Tickfer-Erickson Legion Post 17. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, the Knights of Columbus where he was a 3rd and 4th Degree Knight. Ralph owned and operated Ralph's Auto Body Repair and Wrecker Service in Arcadia; he also worked at Ashley Furniture Industries.
Ralph is survived by his wife Theresa (their 40th anniversary would of been March 22) of Arcadia, two daughters; Tricia (James) Komay of Onalaska, Michelle "Micki" (Brian) Gilberts of La Crosse, 5 grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Mitchell, Alexa Komay, Emma and Alex Gilberts, three sisters; Marilyn (Herman) Yates of Rochester, Barbara (Robert) Zielinski of Omaha, NE, Debbie (Roger) Satterlund of Lancaster, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Larry and two sister; Lorraine Adsero, Joanne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Parish, with Father Raj and Father Tim Oudenhoven officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home where there will be a 6:30 PM Payer Service and a 7:00 PM Rosary. They may also call on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, rural Arcadia, with full Military Rites by Tickfer-Erickson Legion Post 17 and the VFW Post 10671.
