Norbert G. Foegen, 84, of Arcadia died on Monday, March 23, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse, WI. Norbert was born on June 9, 1930, in Buffalo County, WI, on the home farm, to Philip and Amelia (Heller) Foegen.
Norbert served in United States Army during the Korean War, where he received a Purple Heart. He married Rita Zeller on April 23, 1955, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee, WI. Norbert farmed on Canada Ridge in the Twp. of Waumandee, he was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and a member of Tickfer-Erickson Legion Post 17. He served as supervisor for the Town of Waumandee for 10 years. Norbert's band "Norbie's Polka Band" which included other family members played at many events in the area. After retirement from farming, he and Rita worked at Watkins, in Winona for 11 years.
Norbert is survived by his wife: Rita of Arcadia; sons: David (Roxanne) Foegen of Winona, Thomas (Eileen) Foegen of Rochester, Allen (Kelly) Foegen of Winona; daughters: Janet (Rollie) Mueller of Arcadia, Carol (Frank) Galewski of Trempealeau; grandchildren: Lisa (Justin Eide) Foegen, Krissa Foegen, Kelly Foegen, Tyler Foegen, Ryan Gardiner, Kevin (Staci) Gardiner, Aiden Foegen, Sydney Foegen, Keanna (Casey Brown) Galewski; great grandchildren: Brynna Kelly and Ryia Brown. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Clifford, Anton, Franklin, & Delbert Foegen, Wilfred Rothering, Angeline Harry, Lavina Lorenz, Emma Hundt, and Sister M. Leora Foegen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015, at 10:30 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Waumandee, WI with the Rev. Brian Jazdzewski officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, where there will be a 4:30 PM prayer service, and a 7:30 PM rosary.They may also call on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Waumandee, WI.
