Megan Sonsalla

December 6, 1991 — May 16, 2016

v Megan Elizabeth Sonsalla, 24 of Holmen, WI went to be with our Lord on May 16, 2016. She was surrounded by family and those who loved her.
Megan was born on December 6th, 1991, in La Crosse, WI to Jeffrey Sonsalla and Debra (Lisowski) Goetting. She was a 2012 graduate of Arcadia High School, and moved to Holmen the same year. She was a fun loving, quirky girl who easily captured the hearts of all who came to know her. She took delight in making jokes and playing tricks, always keeping her loved ones on their toes. Megan loved all animals and small babies, but she especially loved her teddy bears. Megan radiated true and honest feelings, and taught those around her what absolutely real happiness looked like. Deja, on behalf of the REM staff and caregivers, stated "I do not stand alone when I say she taught us so much more than we ever taught her...... she taught me that a good quality of life sometimes means that we need to take some risks." Megan taught us all how to appreciate life.
Megan is survived by her parents, Debra (Chad) Goetting of Arcadia and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Sonsalla of Fort Worth, TX, sisters; Katelyn (Kyle) Kulig, Cassandra Sonsalla, Kylie Goetting, Alexandria Pabst, and Danika Pabst. Brother; Jason Garverick; grandparents; Andy and JoAnne Lisowski, Paul and Margaret Goetting, and Bernard and Laurie Holen; great grandparents; Inga Allen and Deloris DeMoss; and many, many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, and caregivers.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Adolph and Nadine Sonsalla, and great grandparents Palmer and Margie Scow, Carl and Lucille Goetting, Lance Allen, and Betty Strickhouser.
A memorial service was held 6:00 PM on Monday, May 23rd at Wozney-Killian Funeral Home in Arcadia. Visitation was from 5:00 pm, until 6:00 PM Family and friends were invited to the home of Andy and JoAnne Lisowski after the services for celebration of life and a lantern send off in Megan's honor. There also was a teddy bear drive, as Megan loved her teddy bears. All family and friends were invited to bring a bear in Megan's honor, and they will be donated to Gunderson Lutheran Pediatric patients. Flowers and memorials for Megan can be sent to N29228 North Creek Road, Arcadia WI 54612.
A very special thanks goes out the Gunderson-Lutheran hospital for their exceptional quality of care and genuine concern for Megan and her family, Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, and also to Megan's second family: the staff, caregivers, and housemates of her REM home. Words could never describe what each and every one of you meant to Megan and her family.
