Louise Bagniewski

May 4, 1938 — May 26, 2024

Louise Bagniewski, 86, of Golden Valley, MN, formerly Trempealeau, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at home, surrounded by her children.

Louise Charlotte Carhart was born May 4, 1938 in Trempealeau, WI to Carroll and Charlotte (Risser) Carhart. After having classes in a one-room school with her siblings, she attended Healy Memorial High School. Growing up, she helped on the family homestead, which continued after her education. While others ventured away, she chose to stay close to home and was never far from her dear twin sister, Lois. On September 22, 1964, she married Gerald Bagniewski at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Arcadia. They grew a family which started in a mobile home on her parent's property and then to their own house in Trempealeau. Four children, three dogs, countless cats, goats, and a number of unsuspecting ducks and chickens rounded out their little hobby farm. Aside from the most important role of a homemaker, she also worked at Hillside Fish House, Old Main Historical Society, and performed home care for several folks in the community. She worked hard, especially for her family, and through it all she was selfless, resilient, loving, and kind. She stressed to her children the importance of having manners and respecting your elders, and despite once being hit in the face by a line drive while playing ball in the yard with her kids... she still loved them to the ends of the earth, even after they scrambled off in a panic.

Wherever she went, she was quick to disarm and befriend those she met. Eventually, most fell in love with "sweet Louise" and her famous apple pies which she dispensed freely and happily. Not a bad bone in her body and a force to be reckoned with when paired with Lois. She truly had a green thumb and could get any ailing plant back to life. She was up for anything and was not afraid to try something new. Of all the things she was most proud of, her children and grandchildren were at the top of her list. For the last 10 years, she shared a home with her daughter, Kathie, and her feline companion, Miley. They went on many adventures that included Door County, Copper Harbor Michigan, Thunder Bay Canada, and many trips to various points along Lake Superior, often opting for the scenic lake route vs the short one. After patiently waiting for and supervising Kathie as she collected rocks and driftwood, she would always include "you're a good driver" in her conclusion of their escapade. She was the best co-pilot.

Louise leaves behind her children, Kathie of Golden Valley, MN, Bradley of Plymouth, MN, Lynn of Greenfield, WI, and Alan (Heidi) of St Charles, MN; grandchildren, Kelsey (Journey), Alan Jr., Andrew, Arianna (Austin), Jacob, Jared, Jayda, Kaylyn, Jack, Kayla, and Madison; great-grandchildren Axtin and Athena; beloved twin sister, Lois Carhart; brother, Charlie (Mona) Carhart; and 31 nieces and nephews.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; grandchildren, Ashley and Harley; sisters, Sharon Carhart, Marcia Sheffer, and Mildred "Anne" Price; nephews, John Wieczorek and Fred Price; and niece, Sandra Pehler.

Embrace memories of me, and in your heart I will stay.

He decided for me, it was time on this day.

Let me run free without any pain.

Staying any longer, our hearts couldn't sustain.

I reached my destination and what a beautiful sight.

I am instantly free of illness and no longer need to fight.

Your unselfish decision has helped more than you know.

During my final moments it was hard for you to let go.

I'll remain by these gates as loyal as can be.

Waiting for you to join me together in eternity.
