Daniel Lee Fernholz, 70, of Arcadia, passed away on January 25, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse, from complications after surgery.
Dan was born on February 10, 1950, in Arcadia to Mark and Margaret (Pyka) Fernholz. He wed Barbara K. Waldera on July 26, 1969, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia. Together the couple were married for 51 ½ years. Dan farmed the family dairy farm all of his life. He enjoyed driving tractors, working with his backhoe and caterpillar, plowing snow with the skid loader, deer hunting, fishing, campfires with family and friends, and spending time working on projects in his shop. He was a great fabricator.
Dan is survived by his wife: Barbara of Arcadia; six children: Jennifer (Glenn) Schick of Pontotoc, MS, Randall (Jennifer) Fernholz of New Richmond, WI, Kate (John) Nelson of Arcadia, Kim (Phillip) Ehrat of Buffalo City, Russell (Jennifer) Fernholz of Waumandee, and Danielle (Matthew) Phillips of Arcadia; 15 grandchildren and one on the way due in March: Leila and Evan Schick, Ryan (Hannah), Elyse, and Julia Fernholz, Hillary Filla, Twins: Peyton and Jackson Nelson, Tyler, Trevor, Tanner, and Tj Ehrat, Claire and Elizabeth Fernholz, and Frankie Phillips; sister: Nancy (LaVerne) Haines of Arcadia; sister-in-law: Dorothy Fernholz of Whitehall; and one niece, four nephews, and many friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: David Fernholz, Sr.; sister: Jean Fernholz-Friendt; and twin granddaughters: Anna and Emily Fernholz; and father and mother-in-law: Alphonse and Marcella Waldera.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Arcadia, with Fathers Sebastian Kolodziejczyk and Kyle Laylan officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of mass at church. A Rosary will be recited just prior to the beginning of mass.
