Brandon Sonsalla

September 14, 1984 — August 4, 2024

Brandon Sonsalla, 39, died at his home farm on Sunday, August 4, 2024. Brandon was born in Arcadia on September 14, 1984, to Gerard and Winifred (Lundberg) Sonsalla. He graduated from Arcadia High School in May, 2003. Brandon excelled in football where he started for the team for three years. He was named All-Conference player two years, Honorable Mention All-State, and La Crosse Tribune Lineman of the Year in 2002. Brandon had a special love of animals and from 4th grade on he had many successful years of showing poultry, rabbits, dairy, beef, and hogs at the local county, state, and national shows. His passion landed with show hogs and it was one that he shared with his nephew, Nolan, and niece, Lauren. Brandon graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in December, 2007 with a degree in Animal Science. Upon graduation, he returned to Arcadia to join the family farming operation in Newcomb Valley with his father and grandfather. Brandon established his own livestock trucking business traveling thousands of miles and meeting hundreds of people in the last ten years.

Brandon is survived by his parents; his sister, Jennifer (Cody Fink) and her children, Nolan and Lauren. He is further survived by his paternal grandmother, Florence Sonsalla, several uncles and aunts, cousins, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Obert and Marjorie Lundberg; his paternal grandfather, Kenneth Sonsalla; and his first cousin, Cole Berra.

Those who knew Brandon well understood that under his "tough guy" façade was a big and tender heart. He loved interacting with his niece and nephew as well as the children of his close friends. He kept a supply of juice boxes and treats in the barn fridge and cupboard especially for their visits. He mentored many young people with his love and knowledge of hunting turkeys, deer, bear, and wild hogs. He shared many hunting and fishing trips with family and friends.

"We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul." Hebrews 6:19
