Beverly Jean Nemitz, 76, of Trempealeau, died Friday, February 16, 2024, at Marinuka Manor in Galesville with her daughter at her bedside.
She was born on December 19, 1947, to Vernon Raymond Emmons and Ruth Elvira (Dale) Emmons of Galesville at St. Anne's Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. She graduated from Healy Memorial High School in Trempealeau in 1966 and married Rick Nemitz on September 9, 1967.
Her nickname of Bevie came from her granddaughter Skyla who called her that when she was learning to talk; it stuck, being used by all of Skyla's, Brandi's, and Sean's friends.
Bev graduated from UW-L with a teaching degree in Physical Education and Health; she obtained a second degree in Nursing from Winona State University several years later. She spent her entire nursing career at Gundersen Health System in the Post Partum and Nursery areas. Declining health forced her early retirement.
Bev loved sports, swimming, bowling, and playing softball, even when she was 7 months pregnant. She was a Brewer, Packer, and Badger fan as well as a huge fan of Gale Ettrick-Trempealeau High School sports. She also loved music, especially Christmas music; she sang for many years in the La Crosse Choral Union and the Coulee Region Gospel Choir.
She was predeceased by her son Troy Nemitz in 1989, son Sean Nemitz in 2022; her parents; niece, Renee Walters; and nephew, Dan Walters.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Rick of Trempealeau; daughter, Brandi Nemitz of Trempealeau; and granddaughter, Skyla McGrane of Madison. She is further survived by siblings, Ruth M. Barton, Roger (Virginia)Emmons, Kathleen (Wayne) Meunier, Jim Emmons and John Emmons as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 PM on Thursday February 22, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville WI with Reverand Paul Sannerud officiating. Visitation will be from 1200 to 1:00 PM. Wozney-Killian Funeral Home of Arcadia is assisting the family.
