Aurelius Pehler

August 13, 1936 — November 9, 2023

Aurelius "Aurly" Joseph Hubert Pehler, a beloved member of the Arcadia community, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023, at the age of 87. He was born on August 13, 1936, in Arcadia, Wisconsin, to John and Irene (Kiedrowski) Pehler and raised in Pine Creek with his twin brother, Adrian and youngest brother, Francis.

Aurly was a man who lived life to the fullest. On August 12, 1961, he married the love of his life, Marjorie Lisowski, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia. Together, they shared a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Margie and Aurly raised their four children, Allen, Bruce, Charlene and Dale in Arcadia.

Mostly Aurly had a fascination and love of building relationships. His focus in life was enjoying experiences with friends and family that resulted in lasting memories. His time running errands, calling on accounts, or enjoying a gathering in Arcadia filled his day. His weekends were often enjoyed camping in Fountain City during the early years and eventually at his beloved cottage in Buffalo City where many fond memories were enjoyed, especially the 4th of July celebrations where the entire family participated.

Aurly was a hardworking individual who built Pehler Distributing into a successful business with twin brother Adrian, leaving an indelible mark in the industry since 1972. Aurly and his children celebrated 50 years in business in 2022. Additionally, he co-owned Pehler Trucking with his brothers, Adrian and Francis, a business founded by their father, John.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Aurly had a zest for life. He had a passion for travel, exploring new places and creating lasting experiences along the way. He took pleasure in participating in weekly drawings at local establishments, as well as going for memorable car rides, enjoying the beauty of the world around him while sharing local history of the areas farming community.

His dedication to serving his community was admirable. Aurly was a member of the Arcadia Lions Club and devoted his time and efforts to numerous charitable causes. Furthermore, he served on the Arcadia City Council in the late '60s and early '70s. In recognition of his contributions, Aurly and Marjorie were honored as the Parade Marshals for Arcadia Broiler Days in 2010.

Aurly will be deeply missed by his children, Bruce, (Jennifer Foegen) Pehler of Arcadia, Charlene (Bruce) Schweisthal of Arcadia, and Dale (Melissa) Pehler of Arcadia; grandchildren, Lindsey (Andrew Poirier) Schweisthal, Kaitlyn (Adam) Guenther, Samuel Schweisthal, Michael Schweisthal, Zoie Pehler, Josee Pehler, and Landen Pehler; great-grandchildren, Easton, Nora, and Emma Guenther, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
