Vernon Peterson, 76, of Arcadia died on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Tri County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall, WI. Vernon was born on July 29, 1936, in Melrose, WI to Edwin and Hazel (Johnson) Peterson. He married Julie Johnson on September 2, 1961, at Chimney Rock Lutheran Church.
Vernon served in the U.S. Army, being Honorably Discharged in 1960. He worked for Trempealeau Electric Co-Op as the Purchasing Agent for 33 years, retiring in July of 1998. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, an avid sports fan, enjoying the Packers, Badgers, Raiders and Brooklyn / LA Dodgers. "Sports was his life." Vernon also enjoyed going for coffee, playing dice with the guys, playing cards at the Nursing Home and grilling at home. His seven grandchildren were the light of his life.
Vernon is survived by his wife Julie of Arcadia; one son, Wayne (Diana) Peterson of Oregon, WI; two daughters, JoAnn (David) Frahm of Dodge and Becky (Jason) Baker of Oregon, WI; seven grandchildren, Erika and Isabella Peterson, Tessa, Shauna and Brayden Frahm, Bengerman and Emelia Baker; three brothers, Ammet Peterson of Tomah, Royal and Royce Peterson of Hixton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Keith Richard at birth; two brothers, Roger Dean Peterson in infancy and Marls "Mike" Peterson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Peter Jonas and Intern Rhia Wilkin officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home where there will be a 6:00 P.M. Prayer Service. They may also call on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be at Upper Beaver Creek Cemetery, rural Taylor. Memorials can be directed to "Family Wishes".
