Rose Biehl

March 17, 1947 — June 9, 2020

Rose Mary Biehl, 73, of La Crosse, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse with her daughter and niece by her side.

Rose was born in LaFarge on March 17, 1947, to Clarence and Eleanor (Morgan) McDaniel. Her family moved to La Crosse, but a piece of her was always connected to Vernon County. She married Maynard Ohlhauser in La Crosse and was blessed with their daughter, Tammy. They later divorced. On July 12, 1995, Rose married Toby Biehl in La Crosse, and would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year.

Rose absolutely loved spending time with her family, whether it be sharing a simple meal, fishing, playing cards or just visiting. Rose loved to cook and shared this passion with her loved ones often. She had a talented green thumb, growing plants, flowers, and vegetables around her yard and in her garden. She was an animal lover through and through and had many pets over the years. Rose enjoyed shopping- especially for purses, and built a collection that can't be matched. Rose was a very opinionated woman, and she was never afraid to tell it like it is. If she didn't like something, she wouldn't hesitate to tell you, and while sometimes this came out brash, it was her way of showing that she really did care. Rose was very proud of each one of her brothers and loved watching them work on their racecars. Even though the sport made her nervous and scared for her brothers (which she reminded them weekly), she loved going to watch them compete at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Her laugh, vibrant personality, and homecooked meals will forever be missed by all who knew her.

Rose is survived by her devoted husband, Toby of La Crosse; daughter, Tammy Ohlhauser of La Crosse; mother-in-law: Marlen (Ron) Fosse; sisters-in-law: Susan McDaniel, Maureen McDaniel, and Oöna Fosse; nephews: Scott (Dena) Geir, Shawn (Kim) Neary, and Josh McDaniel; nieces: Charlene (Rick) Wegner, Colleen (Nathan) Weitzel, Ann (Lester) Cottone, Kendra (Jeremy) Strzelecki, Crystal McDaniel, and Danielle (Tom) Phillips; and many, many, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Ray McDaniel, James McDaniel, Fred McDaniel; and her former husband, Maynard Ohlhauser.

A Celebration of Rose's Life will be held on Sunday, July 19th, 2020, at Copeland Park in La Crosse beginning at noon. Family and friends are invited for a pot-luck style cookout to honor Rose's love for gathering with those she cherished spending time with- and don't forget your fishing poles!
