Loretta Slaby

Loretta E. Slaby, 97, of Arcadia, passed away on February 20, 2023, at the Pigeon Falls Health Care Center.
Loretta was born in Arcadia on February 22, 1925, to Lewis and Clara (Mish) Korpal. She was united in marriage to Everett J. Slaby in June of 1946, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia. The couple was blessed with 54 years of marriage until his death in 2010. Everett and Loretta co-operated a bar and clothing store for many years in Arcadia. Loretta also worked as a cook at the Arcadia High School for 31 years and 6 years in the dietary department at St. Joseph's Hospital. Loretta loved everything about cooking, baking, gardening, crafts and canning. She and her husband loved to go on trips to Las Vegas and to surrounding local casinos.
Loretta is survived by her three children: Cynthia (late, Dave) Schreiber of Holmen, Gary (Betty) Slaby of Arcadia, and Rosemary (Peter) Schoen of Eau Claire; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers and their spouses: Everett, Eugene, Ernest, and Richard Korpal; sister and spouse: Evelyn Schock; son-in-law: Dave Schreiber; and many other relatives and in-laws.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Holy Family Parish with Father Kyle Laylan officiating. Family and friends are welcome for a public rosary beginning at 9:45 a.m. with visitation will follow until the time of service at church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, rural Arcadia.
