Marcella Helen "Marcy" Schlesser, 98, of Galesville died on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Marinuka Manor in Galesville. Marcella was born on March 4, 1919, in Pine Creek, WI. to John and Frances (Scharmach) Pelowski. She married Irvin Schlesser on May 11, 1938, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Creek.
Marcella and Irvin farmed the family farm in Galesville raising eight children: Richard, Judy, Jack, Sally, Dennis, Steve, Marvin and Dale. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Trempealeau and the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She taught her children and grandchildren to be strong in their faith and prayerful. Neighbors and friends were very important to her. She would stop whatever she was busy working on to entertain all for 3 o'clock lunch. From the long hours spent gardening and baking, everyone enjoyed her homemade bread, sugar cookies, jams, and chicken noodle soup.
Marcy is survived by her daughter: Sally (Lawrence) Hammond of Holmen, sons: Dennis of Galesville, Steve (Patti) of Burnsville, MN, Marvin (Bonnie) and Dale (Cindy Brenengen) both of Galesville; daughter-in-law: Darlene Schlesser of Galesville and son-in-law: Duane Glenzinski of Rochester, MN. 12 grandchildren: Mike Glenzinski, Mark (Steph) Glenzinski, Brian (Jill) Glenzinski, Donna (Steve) Nelson, Diane (Tim) Ehlers, Deb (Chris) Schwertel, Kim (Matt) Theisen, Jay (Crystal) Hammond, Keith Schlesser, Jennifer (Ryan) Hilton, Jessica (Corey) Cyert and Kyle (Katie) Schlesser; as well as 23 great grandchildren with another on the way: Jaden, Lexi, Josie, Luke and Tyler Glenzinski, Adam, Carlene and Alex Nelson, Jack and Coley Glenzinski, Cara and Nicholas Theisen, Nathan and Katie Ehlers, Conner and Callie Hilton, Riley and Addison Cyert, Eli, Eden and Emmett Schwertel, Hadley Schlesser, and Brayden Hammond. One brother: William (Lois) Pelowski of Fountain City, WI and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Irvin on August 23, 1996; her children: Richard, Jack and Judy; brothers: Florian (Margaret) Pelowski, Chester (Mary) Pelowski, Roy (Phyllis) Pelowski, Joseph Pelowski; sisters: Isabell (Phil) Prochowitz, Henrietta (John) Theis and Helen (Leonard) Drazkowski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 11:00 AM at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Trempealeau, WI, with Father Kennedy officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church where there will be a 3:30 PM Prayer Service and Rosary. They may also call on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in rural Arcadia.
