Gene Gregory Haines, 67 of Arcadia died on Monday, July 13, 2015, at his home. He was born on September 11, 1947, in Arcadia to Eugene and Eleanor (Breska) Haines.
Gene graduated from Arcadia High School. He farmed in Trout Run for 19 years, and then became a maintenance manager for A-G Co-op Creamery in Arcadia. He retired in 1993. He was a former member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Arcadia. Gene married Laurie Gathje on April 11, 1975, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia; they later divorced.
Gene enjoyed farm equipment, cars, antiques and visiting with people whenever he could. He also loved to work with his hands and help others with his maintenance skills.
Gene is survived by his daughter: Rebekah (Joe) Krueger of Decorah, Iowa; granddaughter Amelia Helen Krueger of Decorah, Iowa; brothers: Roger (Noreen) Haines and Steven Haines of Arcadia; sister: Mary (Michael) Gorham of Minnetonka, MN; nieces, nephew, cousins, friends, and his former wife, Laurie Gathje. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2015, at Holy Family Parish with Rev. Woodrow Pace officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home where there will be a 7:00 PM Prayer Service. They may also call on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, rural Arcadia.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Eugene Haines Scholarship at the State Bank of Arcadia.
