Foster Ray Gribbons, 75, of La Crosse, WI died on Monday, November 7, 2016, at the home of his son, Nathan in Winona, MN. Foster was born on June 28, 1941, in Columbus, Indiana to Thomas and Frances (Burton) Gribbons.
Foster enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1960 was discharged in 1965. He served in the Army Reserves and the National Guard until 1995. He was a member of the Morris-Snuggerud Legion Post 284 of Holmen, WI. Foster married Vicky D. Dahl on September 15, 1979, at the French Creek Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick, WI. He had worked as a machinist for Chart Industries. He was a member of French Creek Lutheran Church in Ettrick.
Foster is survived by his wife: Vicky of La Crosse; sons: Nathan (Haley) Gribbons of Winona, MN, Timothy Gribbons of La Crosse, James Dale Gribbons of Kentucky; daughter: Tammy Ray Fiffe of Clifford, Indiana; sister: Helen Turner of Indiana; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Duane Ray, and Thomas Sidney Gribbons; brother: John; sisters: Linda, Liz, Carol, Judy, Mary and Margriette.
Foster who preferred to be called Ray, loved to dance which is how he met his wife Vicky.Ray loved fishing (or as his sons called it sleeping) and playing bingo with his wife. Ray was a kind and loving man who would help anyone who was in need. He will be missed greatly by family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the French Creek Lutheran Church, rural Ettrick (N23007 County Road T), with Rev. Anna Sorenson officiating. Friends may call on Sunday during the visitation from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at French Creek Lutheran Church and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will in the Church Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the Morris-Snuggerud Legion Post 284. Wozney-Killian Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
