Elvira Mary Roberts (Schmitz) 84, of Blair, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, WI.
Elvira is known for all the beautiful crochet items she made. She enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers and talking about them and politics with her grandchildren. Elvira enjoyed planting in her flower beds and was an avid collector of various items. She also enjoyed cooking and making up different dishes.
Elvira was born in West Salem, WI to Eleanor and Arthur Schmitz on April 3, 1932. She graduated from Aquinas High School in La Crosse and went on to earn a LPN certificate in Nursing. She worked as a LPN Nurse most of professional life but last worked for the Trempealeau County Health Care Center for 26 years before she retired in 1996.
Elvira is preceded in death by her parents Eleanor & Arthur Schmitz, Brother Harold Schmitz, Sister La Vonne Buchner.
Elvira is survived by her sons Michael & Sherry Johnson of Anna, TX, Thomas & Marisa Johnson of Hudson, WI, Mark & Pam Johnson of Eau Claire, WI, Robert & Janella Johnson of Hudson, WI, Terry & Elaine Johnson of Twin Lake, MI, Scott Roberts of Blair, WI, daughter Kathy & David Smikrud of Blair, WI, sister in-law Betty Schmitz of West Salem, grandchildren Ben and Ted Johnson, Chris and Andrew Smikrud, Kipp Roberts, Rayna Beaman and Devin and Buddy Hubbell. Great-grandchildren Kendall and Brady Johnson along with nieces and nephews.
At Elvira's request, there will be no Visitation or public Funeral service. Wozney Killian Funeral Home are handling the private funeral arrangements.
